In other words, all .MOBI websites have to be built to be accessed without problems by mobile devices in agreement with the so-called “MWI Best Practices for mobile content” drawn by the W3C Mobile Web Initiative (MWI) in partnership with the dot MOBI Registry. These involve how a page is being navigated, the way it is being displayed (form and size), etc.

The restrictions have induced some worries in view of the fact that the universal top-level extension is the only one that specifies what devices ought to be able to access a website and the way in which this has to happen, breaking the so-called principles of device independence, according to which a site should be created in such a way as to be accessed by most web browser applications and devices, be they mobile or stationary.
